These past several weeks have been extremely difficult as we’ve witnessed the killings of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor. These tragic events are only the most recent of many incidents of unarmed black people who have lost their lives due to systemic racism and racial prejudice.

We acknowledge the pain and sadness felt by so many individuals around the world, especially by the black community. We stand in solidarity and unequivocally echo the voices of so many others by saying that black lives matter.

I also recognize that my experiences differ immensely from those who experience racial prejudices every day. Because of this, I am taking this time to listen, learn, and discover how I can become better within my own home, community, and at Nu Skin. We are asking our global Nu Skin family to do the same.

We are nowhere near perfect. We have a long way to go. But we are committed to standing with the black community and want to actively stand against racism and promote greater diversity. We’re having honest conversations with Nu Skin leaders and employees about racial biases, systemic oppression, and how we as a company and as people can confront these issues head-on. Some of our initial plans include:

  • Accelerating and building on the work being done by our global head of diversity and inclusion

  • Strengthening our approaches to talent acquisition in our corporate offices

  • Reviewing the way that we market our products and expanding product development to reach a wider range of people

  • Launching a long-term diversity and inclusion education plan with trainings and events around topics of systemic racism

  • Creating educational opportunities for sales leaders and employees that highlight black voices and perspectives

In addition, the Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation board has approved a $110,000 donation to the National Black Child Development Institute to improve and advance the quality of life for black children and their families through education and advocacy. We are currently working with the charity to put into place a fuller plan for a partnership beyond this cash donation. This donation builds on our mission to be a force for good in the world, through initiatives that have worked to improve the lives of children for more than 23 years.

Our pledge is to continue to develop, evolve, and expand, and most importantly, hold ourselves and Nu Skin accountable. We’re committed to doing our part to encourage and ensure a brighter future for the black community, people of color, and for people all around the world.

Sincerely,

Ryan Napierski
President
